Awesome Blogger Award (??!!!)

I KNOW I’M SHOCKED TOO! Really, I’m not awesome in any way– more like fabulously self-deprecating. And fabulous, in general.

But this is still so cool!! As with everything, I have procrastinated on my responses, but let’s all just consider it as being posted “fashionably late”, because that just sounds much better.

Much hugs to Noriko @ Diary of a Bookfiend for nominating me! You deserve all the boba (and tempura!!) in the world. ❤ She’s the sweetest person ever, and I strongly encourage you to check out her blog. No pressure or anything, but… *waves boba straw menacingly*

Preguntas

What movie have you watched recently? Was it good?

I’m just going to casually skip over the travesty that was Percy Jackson and move onto a much more entertaining movie…

Image result for wonder woman gif

WONDER WOMAN.

And Wonder Woman wasn’t just “good”– it was GLORIOUS. Gal Gadot is an actual goddess and I want to be her. Forever.

Anyhow, after watching the movie, I was so inspired by Wonder Woman’s kick-butt moves that I pranced around my house for days actually pretending to be her. I’m pretty sure I bumped my hip against the dining table corner at least five times.

But I mean, I technically did fly…. down the stairs as I tripped! (It was a very graceful fall, I assure you.)

I know, right? I’m JUST LIKE Wonder Woman.’

What food would you recommend everyone to try at least once?

Easy. BOBA. If you haven’t tried it yet, you haven’t lived. And if you want to go hardcore, get honey green milk tea boba, half-sweetened, with extra boba and easy lychee jelly. Mmmmm. Yes.

(Along with being JUST LIKE Wonder Woman, I’m also a very healthy person, as you can obviously tell.)

What are some of your hobbies?

Boba 😉

What’s your beverage of choice?

🙂

Do you collect anything other than books?

I collect boba straws. For real.

I have a cup for them and everything! It’s like a flower vase, just with discarded straws! So colorful, yay.

(I can feel your judging eyes judging me… I JUST LIKE SIPPING FROM REALLY BIG STRAWS OKAY)

What is your favorite season?

Alas, I can’t seem to find a way to connect this question back to boba. :’)

Anyways, where I live in the US, I practically can’t differentiate between the seasons. I mean, obviously I can, but there’s really no point because the sun’s shining 99.9% of the time. And when it ACTUALLY RAINS… woahhhhhhhhh. *prances around in joy*

Mild exaggeration? Perhaps. But I mean… I did go to the beach on Christmas Eve.

Quick run-down of all our seasons: Fall is sunny, winter is mildly-cold-but-still-sunny, spring is warm-and-sunny, and summer is sweltering-and-sunny.

I know! So much variety.

Whenever the weather dips below 16 degrees Celsius (or 60 degrees Fahrenheit for all you peculiar ‘Muricans like me), I immediately need a thick sweater. And ideally three other layers of fur. HOW SAD IS THAT. But don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore our weather!

(Though I certainly don’t adore it when it’s September and I’m cooped up in my work room, sweating my behind off. I NEED AIR CONDITIONER.)

Now that I think about it, I frankly wouldn’t survive a day in the snow. Like… how does one defrost a car?? Is it even called defrosting, or am I being an idiot?? And WHAT ABOUT SNOWSTORMS??! I’m in awe of all you weathered snowstorm veterans. :0

What do you spend most of your time doing?

You know, the usual. Reading, running, taking naps, taking my dog on a walk, secretly plotting world domination, baking, taking baths, taking baths in the blood of my enemies, and did I mention reading?

#I like doing normal people things #I’m completely okay

What is your favorite book to movie adaptation?

Oooh, movies! I adore movies. I’m not a harsh critic; it doesn’t take much to please me. Throw in a few quirky one-liners, some nice sound effects, charismatic actors (and actresses!), and I’ll waltz out of the theatre with the happy satisfaction of ten dollars well-spent!

But book-to-movie adaptions? Those are an entirely different story.

My favorite by far has got to be Harry Potter– because who can go wrong with Harry Potter?– but there are quite a lot of, ah, less-than-ideal adaptations that I’ve had the misfortune of viewing.

In fact, if you’re in the mood to bring some major negativity into your life, I actually wrote an entire post about the movies I hate. Woooo, negativity. ❤

Tell us something about yourself.

I have an unreasonable aversion to American cheese.** And a very reasonable aversion to pineapples on my pizza.

All of you who put pineapples on your pizza are monsters. Monsters, I tell you!!!!

Just kidding– I, the self-professed boba-straw-collector, have no right to say this. I will now back away in shame.

**does this make me unpatriotic oops

What is your favorite book of 2017 so far?

Now I Risewhich features the sweetest man-child to ever grace the Ottoman Empire, along with his very stabby sister!

Definitely pick this up if you’re in the mood for a light, fluffy, cute, adorable read. It’s like unicorns pooped sprinkles and sunshine all over the plot.**  🙂  🙂 🙂

If you haven’t read The Conqueror’s Saga yet, what are you doing? I strongly encourage you to read!! It!! Now!! *picks up boba straw, starts twirling it again in a very intimidating manner*

(Shameless Plug: I reviewed Now I Rise, too!! Check out my very lengthy ramble here. )

**in actuality, this book will destroy you emotionally and you will love every second of it

And you've never heard of boba tea???!!! You need to try it; it's the best thing ever for people like me with an insane sweet tooth. I'm very basic, so I usually get some variation of milk tea. Buuut I also looove peach/mango green tea & I'm actually drinking that right now!!

(and to answer your last question: yes, that is a completely normal thing to do)

    • oh my goodness,
      YOU HAVE NOT LIVED

they’re basically chewy tapioca balls of pure joy

and this addiction needs to STOP like I complain about it all the time because it takes away precious $$ I could use for books, but I can’t live without boba so??

  4. First of all– I demand to see a photo of this boba vase. It sounds AWESOME. I think boba straws are so much fun. Why are they so colorful?! And, do they make metal ones yet? Because we go through sooooo many straws.

Secondly, I live in Wisconsin. Yes, it’s called defrosting your car. 😉 No, it isn’t complicated. There is a button for that! Actually, the biggest car difference between those in warm climates and those in colder ones is that our windshield cleaner fluid CONTAINS DEFROSTING INGREDIENTS. So, when you spray your windshield it helps melt all the snow and ice! Brilliant. I found this out the hard way when I bought some new windshield fluid in South Carolina. When I made it home, the fluid was only making thing worse for my windshield. Apparently, the south doesn’t carry defroster in their fluids…

Finally– I love pineapple on my pizza. I suggest we combine our powers for world dominion. Between the two of us, we will know and and conquer all. ALL.

    • FINALLY someone who finally appreciates my wonderful boba vase! Obviously there’s nothing more beautiful than the sight of a dozen colorful discarded straws. 😉

Whew, glad to know that it’s a bit easier than I thought! I originally imagined having to go out there and physically scrape all of the ice off using some kind of tool. But I *still* know I won’t last a day out in the snow– I’d probably mess something up and make the engine would freeze over or something. I wouldn’t put it past me. :’) And HAHA, I didn’t know defroster in windshield cleaner fluids was a thing!!

and oh no… pineapple on pizza… THE UNFORGIVABLE SIN…

buuut after all, I’m a person who collects boba straws, so I’ll casually overlook it and agree to your brilliant plan. All or nothing. WORLD DOMINATION.

      • I mean, there are definitely times when you have to scrape ice off your car with a tool. Or use a brush to sweep all the snow off. There’s nothing worse than turning your car on to have all the fluffy snow melt and turn into ice on your windshield. There are certainly some tactics!

  5. I’ve never tried boba tea but NOW I MUST *heart eyes* Even if I’m not a big tea fan. Oh well.
I haven’t read The Conqueror’s Saga yet but everyone has been fawning over those books!! MUST READ and I WILL I PROMISE. And OOH yes!! The Harry Potter movies are fabulous (though Harry’s eyes weren’t greeeeeeen WHY)

    Liked by 1 person

    • YESS you must try this miracle beverage and then tell me all about it. BOBA WILL BLESS YOUR LIFE. and tbh, it’s more milk than tea, so it’s perfect for sweets-lovers like moi.

also yes!! I found The Conqueror’s Saga to be absolutely glorious, and I AM SO HAPPY that you’ve decided to read it!! It’s such a super light-hearted and fluffy and cutesy read, ha…ha….ha… *sobs in pain*

(no, it is not light-hearted nor fluffy nor cutesy and it will RIP OUT YOUR HEART)

  6. Totally didn’t see this until now, but thanks for the tag. I absolutely adore your plug for Now I Rise. Also, you really do like your boba. I’ll admit this, I tried it once or twice and wasn’t the biggest fan, but I love how unapologetic about your obsession you are.
